Loot Opening Party: Part One

Paisley & Fur Coat: Newbury Clothing Warehouse | Tartan Trousers: Zara | Oversized Black Jumper & Hat: Charity Shop

It's getting so cold out and I'm kind of happy as I have missed wrapping up warm by wearing all my winter coats. This is one of my favourites, I bought it in Newbury Clothing Warehouse just over two years ago for £15. Newbury Clothing Warehouse also known as the barn is one of the best shops I have ever been to (it's a shop full of peoples unwanted clothes). Whenever I go home to Newbury I always ask my mum to take me but we never normally have time (sad times).

Yesterday I was invited to Loot Vintage Clothing, Opening Party. Loot brings Bristol it's biggest vintage clothing store with mens and women's pieces sourced from all over the world. Being a poor student the first thing I noticed was that they have reasonable prices. Usually the thing that puts me off vintage shops is things normally seems to be overpriced, luckily Loot is fair.
Another cool thing I noticed was that they have a section in the store for alterations. I am forever needing things altered especially when it comes to Vintage Pieces, so how handy is it to have an alteration service in store, making things even more one of a kind! I aim to do a blog post to follow this with images of the store so you can get the vibe.

Monday

Harvey Nichols AW13 Fashion Show

White Oversized Blouse & Tartan Trousers: Charity | Shoes: New Look

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to see the Harvey Nichols exclusive Fashion Show in Cutlers Hall, Quakers Friar. The runway show featured key looks from their current Autumn/Winter collection. The trends including chunky knits over going out dresses which I think is great look for the cold weather we are yet to have. Another trend I got excited about is "Boy Oh Boy" the androgynous look that girls can pull off, including pinstripe pieces I adore from Stella McCartney. All the looks on the runway were very elegant, I love the red colour palette that seems to be big this Autumn Winter.

After the runway show everyone was invited back to the Harvey Nichols store for a Champagne Reception with Harvey Nichols cupcakes. Also for a chance to shop your favourite looks from the show and receive a 15% discount.  I am ashamed to say I wasn't brave enough to dig into my student loan and buy myself some designer pieces, especially some Alexander Wang (who I am a massive fan of at the moment) and Victoria Beckham. Oh how I dream that one day I will be able to strut around wearing their stuff.

It was a lovely evening and already I can't wait to see the Spring/Summer 14 collection!

Monday Stars

Star Shirt: Olive | Skirt and Bag: Charity | Ballet Pumps: New Look

Hello everyone! I have been so rubbish at blogging lately, it has just been so difficult to find the time to get someone to snap a quick picture of me. I'm really keen to find a photographer to work with for my blog, it would be very very handy. So if any Bristol based photographers are reading this and are interested in adding some fashion street style to their portfolios... HOLLA?

Recently I have been wearing everyone else's clothes, like today I am wearing my best friend Pippa's skirt and shirt. I felt the cold though and by the afternoon I had to buy a pair of tights to keep my legs warm. I am very sad to say that it feels like Summer is coming to an end.

On a brighter note, I have an exciting week coming up as I have been invited to the French Connection "#Sketchtostore" Bristol Style Challenge Party on Wednesday. I am really looking forward to the evening's fashion challenges so check back for this post. Also on Thursday I have been invited to a party at BoConcept  where I will be the first to view the new BoConcept 2014 collection so you also must check back for this post!

Sunday

Black Summer

Sleeveless Jacket: Topshop | Dress & Purse: Charity | Trainers: Nike

Here is a little look I put together last Friday... I strangely love wearing all black when the sun outs, I think it really works even though black isn't the typical colour people tend to wear in the summer! The leather jacket is borrowed from my friend Pippa, we have been sharing clothes a lot lately, this I'm very finding very handy. I think everyone should have a best friend to share their clothes with! The black dress is something I found in a charity shop years ago for £6, it's one of those things you can just throw on and it works. I have kept the look casual with my leather Nike trainers, I feel they add to the whole 'sport chic' phase I am going through at the moment.

On Friday my friend Elinor came round to take some photographs of me for a painting. Elinor is a Fine Art Graduate from Cardiff who now is based in Bristol. You should definitely check out her website http://elinorjohn.com/ as her paintings are pretty cool, (she definitely has a talent)! I'm so excited to see myself as a painting, below I have added a couple of the photographs that Elinor took ready to take to her artist studio next week to work with. Make sure you check back soon as I'm sure I'll be featuring these paintings on my blog when they are complete!

Wednesday

Happy Birthday to Pippa

Top: Olive | Skirt: Charity | Bag: Whitechapel Gallery Bookshop | Shoes New Look

Today is my best friend Pippa's 21st Birthday and upon her request we went to Bristol's very own Aquarium.  I had never actually been there before but have always wanted to, so I was just as excited as she was.

The highlight of the day was a "Happy 21st Birthday to Pippa" announcement from the reception staff over the Aquarium's tannoy. After that we started screaming with excitement, I hope we didn't scare the fish! I would say the Aqaurium is quite small but a great day out. I wish I actually looked at the description of the fish a bit more to gain a bit of "fishy knowledge".
Going there has really given me the urge to snuggle up on the sofa and watch Finding Nemo tonight but instead we are off for birthday drinks in the city!

Pippa has just moved into my house which means I now have access to her wardrobe yay! I am wearing pretty much all her clothes today! I feel so lucky to have my best friend move in and I can't wait for all the exciting times to come!

Also great news, Pippa is thinking about starting her own blog. I'm sure I will be able to persuade her to, so watch this space! She has a great influence on my style so I will probably be her number one fan!

Tuesday

Sports Chic

I have recently became guilty of injecting a little Sports Chic into my wardrobe, especially after purchasing these mens extra small Adidas shorts (a £2.50 charity shop find!) I teamed them with a Zara fish net sweatshirt that I bought the other day after becoming a secret stalker of the India Rose Blog and seeing that she gets plenty of wear out
of a similar one.

I was laughing when walking along in this little outfit, as I felt like I was back at school in my P.E kit and had forgot my plimsoles which meant I had to wear my school shoes to take part! Speaking of feet, I am a big fan of cutting the feet of old barely black tights to make socks. I'm sure to regret this when Winter comes and I have nothing but footless tights in my draws!

I hope you like the sports twist I've added to my current style (still loving monochrome) I'm sure to be posting more of this sports chic in the next couple of months!

Thursday

Hair, Wine and Sea.

                                                Shirt: H&M | Skirt & Shoes : Topshop |  | Hair: Jo @ Envy

Last Tuesday I was invited to Plymouth with my best friend Milly, for a day of being a 'lady of leisure'.

The day began at hair salon Envy, where Milly was treated to a cut and blow dry and me a colour, fringe trim and blow dry. Envy is located in Plymouth's Royal William Yard. A beautiful location on Plymouth's harbour.

It was a great pleasure to be able to get my roots done and what a perfect job hairdresser Jo did. I think the colour looks absolutely great. Jo finished my hair off by using GHD's to create natural looking, frizz free waves, making my hair look much softer then how I usually curl it. We were also treated to manicures, so nice being able to get my hair and nails done all in one sitting!

The next stop was next door for a bit of education on wine tasting at  Le Vignoble. This was a new experience for me as I had never done wine tasting before and I found it great fun! Being able to taste and learn about different wines from all over the world means drinking wine will never be the same again. I definitely think everyone should go wine tasting once or how ever many times they want in their life. We were also treated at Le Vignoble's to try the different French cheeses and sausages which were delicious!

The next and final stop was to Bibi and Mac boutique. A boutique like no other, the interior looking like a warehouse which was the same throughout all the buildings in The Royal William Yard. Each rail in store was colour coordinated which I loved. The rails featured timeless pieces for all seasons, the idea that you can throw something on and look effortless. I definitely found I looked effortlessly chic when trying on several pieces. In store I was most drawn to the monochrome pieces. I feel you can never go wrong wearing black and white it always makes me feel so good. I was also drawn to the Victoria Beckham pieces, the structure she uses in her designs are just fabulous!

I had never been to Plymouth before, I would definitely go back especially to Envy. I need to get Jo to teach me how to style my hair like this again, as I have forgotten and my attempt earlier was awful!
